EPHEMERAL ARCHEOLOGY

This collection of drawings cornplements ir sorne way the earlier "Caprichos bajo el arco rnágico" ("Whims ünder the Magic Arch") (December 1993); although the therne is different, it could give the earher collection a me of continuity with hornages fo rnernory (UNDER THE MAGIC ARCH).

These drawings, this chaos of forms, this marriage of unlike elernerts cohabits my surroundings with me, they are everywhere ir "the great theater of the world." The beggar, the fooi or the suicidal street-persor sleepmng among the cardboard with brard rames and elegantly prirted typography, attached fo his krapsack, saturated with printed abysses, he would be ore example arnorg many.

Landscapes ard the landscape that lives withir these trarsfiguratmons are ir sorne way like those aforemertiored characters that share life with the myth, upsettirg their hermetic appeararce, the failacy of the formal purity of their entrails.

These landscapes and these ("characters" ?) share their life with the myth, they use it, they absorb it and it absorbs them, they support it or they are integrated irto a structure of the absurd . . . They are like ephemeral archeology where what rnatters is image and not style, they allude fo a constant relativiiy, rearly always creating a syrthesms of opposites.
